THE CHILDREN LEAVE HOME

A happy day to remember after all the fear of the war for me was to see Bob married to his girl, whom we all loved. I remember the hymn which was sung at the ceremony 'Oh Perfect Love' made me want to howl. The tune wrung my heart strings and still does whenever I hear it.

Marjorie during this time was meeting boys and enjoying happy days. She had a good job in an office. We were proud of her achievements. Then one day she met the boy, who was being demobbed from the army. So another happy day to remember came about when she too was married at the same church as her brother. I remember saying to her when arrangements were being made for the ceremony "Don't have that hymn that Bob had, Oh Perfect Love, or I shall be bursting with tears again". No, she didn't. They decided to have "Lead us, Heavenly Father lead us", and He does lead us, to where we don't know yet.

So now our children are married and for us two, although we miss them, it is what we want for them - to love and to be loved by a mate.

Several years went by before grandchildren came along to add to our happy family. Both couples had two children. Bob and his wife had two girls with a few years in between. Marjorie and her husband had two children also, a boy first and a girl next, with a few years in between.

Yes, I'm content with my family. We've now watched the grandchildren grow to maturity. There has been much fun at party time when we've all been together.

Now the years are flying by and the grandchildren too are spreading their wings and leading happy interesting lives.

So I'll conclude my memoirs now and hope those who may read them will find interest too.
